Profile: Terry Davis

Personal background
I was born just outside London England in 1947. Over the years I have slowly moved west via. Bristol and Truro Cornwall to where I am now. I live on a small island called St.Martin`s. This one of a group of five inhabited islands known as The Isles of Scilly. We are 28 miles west southwest of Lands End Cornwall. The Islands are a beautiful place to live and in the summer we get many visitors. Our winter population for this island is about 80.
I am a builder, plumber, electrician, picture framer and woodturner plus anything else that people can think up.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am a firm believer that life must exist outside our small planet. With all of the millions of stars that we are aware of plus the countless millions that we are not I think it would be arogant of us to believe that we are the only life to have evolved. The must be life all over, much of it far behind us in evolution and much far in advance. Just because our technology is relatively primitive we can not assume that others have not overcome the vast distances separating us. We can not through fear become isolationists we must reach out and be adventurous as the human race has been since the beginning and hope that we get a peaceful responce.
