Profile: Ron Smith

Personal background
I'm 41, single, and I live and work on a ski hill in the Alberta Rockies. I enjoy computers, LOUD rock 'n roll (pre 1976), SF, afternoon drives, and other relaxing activities. I was born and raised in western Canada, but I hope to move elsewhere in the next year or two (if I ever find someone who can fix the 8-track in my car).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The odds of other life existing are quite real, and being as our system is one of the younger in the universe, there is a good chance that ETs are more advanced than us. Their technology should be such, that if we do transmit a beacon it will be received.
I believe we should use funding for radio communication and telescopes as opposed to human travel to dead rocks in our own system.
