Personal background
Lets see, I'm old enough to know better, I work as a graphic designer and I love to fish, watch the sifi channel and the NFL.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been a SiFi nut for as long as I can remember. And I do believe that we are not alone, you have to be awfully naive to think that in this vast Universe we are the only ones in it. I just hope I’m still alive when we do discover life elsewhere.

Benefits and dangers of a discovery? I think the benefits out way the dangers. I don't think ET will want to wipe out another species.

Yes we should transmit a beacon for others to find. What information? Tough one...But I think we should send the same massage we sent in 1977 with Voyager I and II...

"As the Secretary General of the United Nations, an organization of the 147 member states who represent almost all of the human inhabitants of the planet Earth. I send greetings on behalf of the people of our planet. We step out of our solar system into the universe seeking only peace and friendship, to teach if we are called upon, to be taught if we are fortunate. We know full well that our planet and all its inhabitants are but a small part of this immense universe that surrounds us and it is with humility and hope that we take this step."

-Kurt Waldheim, Secretary General, United Nations

Why do I run SETI@home? The excitement of maybe finding a radio message, you know, to have "First Contact!"

I love this project, I'm glad I can help, makes me feel that I have not wasted all this money for a computer so that it justs sits here idle.
