Personal background |
Originally a Hoosier, I'm now a happy Oregonian. I love to snowboard, garden, run, listen to music, backpack and watch the night sky! I also love Hawaii. I'm an environmental lawyer, working on a thesis for an advanced degree. As we all know, while life may exist elsewhere, Earth is the best thing we've got going, so we should cherish her. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Extraterrestrial life must exist. I do believe. Perhaps humans will be discovered. Benefits of discovery -- humility and opportunity. The downside: Perhaps other beings are as aggressive as we are.
Yes. Humans should transmit a beacon! But no MTV, CNN, or Survivor TV -- they'll think we're too primitive for contact.
I run SETI@home because I hope we will make contact in my lifetime and because even if we don't, I enjoy the imagination and hope it provokes in me.
The SETI project is wonderful. I'm happy so many people have joined. I hope even more will join. It shows that even in diversity, we can, as humans, have a common goal. |
