Personal background
I'm a special type of nerd. I'm a nerd with a social life and that is still learning to program in Python. I'm in 5th grade of College and doing not so well. Probably because I can't do stuff with computers. I'd be happy only to finish this f*cked up school, so I can study at an academical IT-school.

I'm from Holland. Yup that place with green stuff. :P Next to computers I listen a lot to music, post at fora and drink a lot of beer.

Why did I join up with Seti@home? Well, I guess i'm a friggin' addict, but I would like to say that I hate a computer see not fully used. I like to push every CPU to the max. Besides it would be nice to find an occasiona alien once in a while. :P
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Firstly, no one can know for sure whether ET is out there, but considering the possible infinity of teh universe there is a huge chance! If we would discover it? Einstein said that lightspeed is the fastest and no one can falsify his theories, so lightspeed probably is the limit. In our galaxy the chances of finding extra-terrestrial life are small. So small that I want to exclude the possibiliy. Considering that light speed is the limit a human should travel very long to make it to Alpha Centauri and then research another galaxy. That long that other exotical ways need to be found in order to research that! Seti@home is one of these ways and there is a fair chance of Seti succeeding. Though I can not promise anything. Would it be dangerous? No, it would only enrich our knowledge. Advanced civilizations wouldn't be hostile towards us. If we should encounter ape-equivalent aliens we have nothing to fear. Pretty obvious!

2. Ofcourse we should send beacons. Nothing better than a message that is answered by a source deep in space. What should we sent? Probably something basic. Something that isn't to hard to decode. Like the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci that have been used.

3. Seti@home runs for the reaons mentioned above. The rush to find alien life and to brag about my computer doing "stuff" where all the "normal people" haven't even heard from. :P
