Personal background |
Well, I am 38 and a Engineer. My biggest hobby unfotunately would be computing. My wife thinks sometimes I am a bit over the top with it, like why I have 2 computers running 24/7 for Seti. So far I have been able to convince her having them run is not really hurting anything. Obviously this is not a lie, but recently I think she has just given up on this point. Whew, dodged another bullet and Seti lives on in our house. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. I do think there is extraterrestrial life elsewhere. I don't believe we will discover anything in our lifetime, but I guess you never know.
2. I think transmitting a beacon would not hurt. If the other beings who are able to receive it are intelligent enough to understand it, then I suppose we would pose no threat to them. Or they to us for that matter.
3. I run Seti@home on the outside chance that I might make a difference. Maybe because of my machines running, ET might be found just that much sooner. I hope they keep the project going, and maybe even expand it a bit. |
