Personal background
User of the Day - December 30th, 2005

Well, I'm 36 and an Business Analyst living in Dallas, TX. I'm originally from North Dakota...the great frozen north. I didn't have a real opinion about changing the state name to Dakota. I'm so "from Fargo" that I went to the world premiere of the movie Fargo at the Fargo Theatre. Hehehe...Anyway. As you can see from the picture, I'm into medieval recreation. Take a look at my blog if you'd like: http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=Morgan_Buchanan . I'm a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism...loads of fun. I spend most of my weekends hitting my best friends with big sticks. Feel free to ask. :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course I think ETL exists. I have a hard time believing someone who's absolutely certain that it doesn't would run this thing. :) Will humans EVER discover it? Who knows? How? By pure accident like most everything else we discover! Yes, we should transmit a beacon into space...just like they'd do in StarTrek. We transmit our language and our intentions. Wait, forget that. We just transmit our language. I think we'd have a hard time writing the "intention speech." Hell, it'd be mostly lies anyway. Peace and all that? Right...we'll try to trade glass beads for Alpha Centauri and move the aliens onto "reservations."
