Personal background |
I grew up in Millville, Ohio, a small town just north of Cincinnati, but I've lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina for the past 15 years. I am 40 years old and develop software for a living. I'm an amateur astronomer, very amateur. I love to look at the big planets. If you’ve never seen Jupiter or Saturn through a telescope, you’re missing out. There’s nothing like seeing Saturn and its rings live. I have a couple of Pentium 4s at home and I work for a small software company full of PCs that sit around and do nothing all night. So I set up my PCs and several at work to help crunch the signal data. I hope it helps! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think ET exists. I’m not sure ET has been here though. If he has, I don’t think he wants us to know. If ET does want to contact us, I think he’ll call before he just shows up. If we ever do discover ET, I hope everyone in the world is told. I think many, many people’s beliefs will be shaken and I hope they can find a way to accept it. I think ET will be friendly too. I don’t think a civilization could organize them selves and put the resources into getting here if they were not friendly. Anyway, I read about the SETI@home project and thought it was incredible how much processing power they harness, supercomputer processing power at such a bargain price. The folks who launched this project are very creative. It gives me a good feeling to be able to contribute to what I think is a worthwhile project. I certainly couldn’t afford to finance an expedition to Mars, but I can harness computers that sit around doing nothing most of the time. |
