Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The probability that extraterrestrial life exists is high. Humans will probably not discover it. The benefit would be, that we could confirm and improve physical models and theories. I do not see any danger.

We should also send information about us to other stars and galaxies. We should send redundant information about earth and our solar system in as many formats as possible to increase the probability to be readable for other beeings.

I think this is a very interesting project. The probability of discovering extraterrestrial life ist low. But if we don't try, we never have a chance to find out! My costs to contribute a little bit to the effort is low, so why shouldn't I do it?
