Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there must be SOMETHING out there. Short of them turning up on our doorstep with some FTL drive system, our best chance is through observation.
Benefits and Dangers: Well the benefits could be something as simple as KNOWING that we are not alone; technology transfer (either way).
The most obvious danger, if we are to believe the sci/fi stories, is invasion/takeover. What could be just as insidious and dangerous though, could be something as simple as culture shock

I run S@H because I like the idea of so many people coming together for a common goal. I like the competetive, yet community, atmosphere of this project.
