Personal background
I'm located in St. Charles, IL and I am part owner of an Information Technology Services company called EMMtek, Inc.

I currently have six systems running the SETI@home client. One of our planned R&D projects though will attempt to run the SETI client on a cluster computer array.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the possibility exists that we have already been contacted by ET and that they are monitoring our progress. Once we achieve a certain technological or social maturity level, we will be contacted again. For now though, I think it would be much more exciting to obtain evidence that there is another planet out there that has a civilization much like to our own.

How cool would it be to find that we are not alone? Cooler still would be to learn that we have found a civilization that is at the same stage of development. I believe there would be similarities but the beauty would be in the differences. The things we could learn from each other would be far more valuable than anything we could hope to gain from an advanced civilization.

Our efforts should be focused not on looking for super aliens but rather on finding our cousins as it were.

That's why I believe SETI@home is so important. We are looking for signals that resemble what we are broadcasting ourselves. I hold great hope for the eventual and ultimate success of SETI@home or other similar future projects and will always participate if possible.
