Personal background
I was born on September 10, 1985, in a city called Bialystok in Poland. I lived there for almost 13 years until I moved to US in the summer of '98. I'm now in my senior year in high school. Since the age of 11, I write programs (QB and VB) and music (using ModPlug Tracker).
I can also play the guitar, but it's been lying in my closet untouched for a while now :P
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Searching for another civilization out there is almost like searching for a best buddy. The problem is, though, that we may not always find ourselves a friend. The worst case scenario would be finding a civilization far more advanced in technology that would see Earth as a very resourceful planet. That could undoubtedly lead to being taken over by what we find. On the other hand, if that civilization found us very resourceful, we could be able to strenghten each other's economies by trading goods, products and ideas. It is yet to be discovered what such a civilization might bring. It is yet most certain that there is other life somewhere in distance, hidden between the stars, on an Earth-like planet. I run SETI@home for enjoyment of being able to help people with discovering the undiscovered from my own house.
