Personal background
I am a married male, age 63 and live in Wisconsin. I am employed as an Executive Director of a non profit corporation. I have been involved with seti for six years. I usually let the screen saver run on the week ends so I don't turn in a lot of hours but am steady at it. I (4/1/02) completed a SETI milestone of 200 units. I also joined the Planetary society and enjoy reading their magazines. My hobbies are golf and racquetball. 7/3/05 updated
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that life exists on other planets. I think we will discover it by our constant effort to look for it and a lot of luck. The benefits are unimagineable in my mind. If it is in any form of higher intelligence it will completely change our view of who and what we are in the grand design. It will give us answers to questions that we don't have yet. The dangers will be the changes it will cause in our social systems and it may exceed our ability to handle the information. I saw the movie "Contact" about the time I first heard about SETI and I knew at once that I wanted to be a part of it and I Love the idea that I can be a part of this effort by the SETI people. I only wish there was more being done to explore the universe. It seems so positive in a time when the human race continues to kill each other over resources and religion.
