Personal background
I'm from guatemala (it's in central america ;)), 22yrs old, currently working as a net/sys admin, quite a rewarding job since i get to play with all kinds of hardware like alpha clusters :D ( no, i'm not running seti@home there in case u were wondering :p ).
my hobbies... well reading, coding, and watching japanimation :)

i pretty much enjoy using setiqueue and setidriver, perhaps the two best apps i've seen to be used with seti, along with setispy of course :D

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) do i believe in E.T.? well it's almost imposible for us to be the only sentient race in the entire universe, laws of probability says they're out there, perhaps we'll never find them, but i do believe that they are out there.

2) the universe is far too big for it to be useful, how do we know where to send it after all? but even so, if we did send it, there's also the question of what to send, the cultures in earth are quite a lot and quite different from one another, would be quite dificult to send something that would represent entire mankind.

3) beacuse it's interesting, i've been a member since may 1999 i stopped using it around 2000 since i had nowhere to run it that was hooked up to the net, i've seen software to be used along seti to have come a long way to where they are now, suggestions? just optimize the *censored* out of the client so u know you're getting the most out of our computers ;)
