| I consider myself as a carbon-based lifeform. I don't like divisions by race, gender, colour or nationality. If people would be more aware of the vastness of Universe and insignificance of our own being there would be less conflicts. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Life in the Universe is an interesting topic in this stage of our development because we do not yet know whether there is any or not. I don't like to *believe* either way. Science has its methods and faith has got nothing to do with them because they can be tested. Considering the vastness of the Universe it's highly unlikely that Earth is the only place to bear life.
When (not if) we discover life somewhere else, it will not be the discovery of the century nor millenium - it will be the greatest discovery since life began on Earth.
The discovery will provide more answers for philosophical questions - people who aren't aware of the vastness of the Universe and only live "here and now" will be struck most by it. And that's a good thing, because this will make us better.
We should never seize searching for life elsewhere, be it by receiving or sending beacons. We ought to try everything
I run SETI@home because I want to help in the research that will answer one of our basic questions. I hope the project will have enough funding to continue research. |
