Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't know if we'll ever find sentient physical life elsewhere in the universe but I'm certainly not averse to either intently listening for indications of the presence of such other life or broadcasting our presence that others might use it as a beacon.

Why I run SETI@home on numerous computers under my administrative control is very straightforward: (1) we waste more CPU cycles than we use and (2) it's a marvelous demonstration of what .NET services can truly become: a collaborative facilitator for things that are bigger than anything we can accomplish individually.
