Personal background
I graduated from Bell and Howell Ohio Institute of Technology back in December of 1977 with a Bachelors of Electronics Engineering Technology. OIT was a devry school but went by OIT at that time. OIT is now Devry University Columbus Ohio. Beware that there is some kind of OIT that is totally unrelated to Devry in Columbus but I am not quite sure what they teach.

My age is 1956 subtracted from the present year. I work at a financial institution as an operations technologist. That means I sit around and work issues as they come in from tens of thousands of servers.

My hobbies are home repair, car repair, computer repair, reading, watching Science fiction movies and TV shows, social networking via the Internet and trying to come up with ideas to better my life and the lives of others.

I am married and have a grown daughter who lives fairly close so I get to visit her and my son in law quite often.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1)
I run SETI as I think it would be a shame to miss out on a signal from some other sentient beings just because we were too dumb or lazy to look for and analyze such a signal.

2)
I think SETI had a good idea but until we become more a space faring civilization it will be difficult to judge the possibilities of other civilizations existing in our universe.

3)
It might be a good idea to analyze light and gravity variations as such technologies come into play. Coherent light at visible and non visible frequencies deserves as much attention as all of the other electromagnetic spectrum.

I do not know if we can detect gravity variations with our present technology but any civilization more advanced than us might be using some kind of gravity modification device to send signals or travel. We probably would need a probe outside of Sols general area of singularity before we could eaves drop on faint changes in the gravitational field.
