Personal background
I am a web developer and system administrator in Maryland, USA. I am 25 years old, and fairly boring actually.

I have always known that there are other civilizations our there somewhere, and to be able to help receive contact from them in some small way is great. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I've been abducted by aliens or anything, or that I even believe that there were aliens at Roswell. But one thing is for sure, the Drake equation can't be wrong. The expanses of space just make it too hard for contact to happen.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think SETI, and particularly SETI@home are great projects. It's a shame that society, in general, doesn't take the search for extraterrestrial life more seriously. I hink the movement of everyone's CPUs contributing to the discovery of intelligent life i nthe universe is a grea tthing, and if only we could do a similar thing for tracking near Earth objects, maybe we can avoid going the way of the dinosaurs.
