60 years old (2014). Computer programmer by trade.
I have always been a space enthusiast, was once a member of the planetary society (for a number of years..) but got tired of them asking for so many donation$.
I admire the people who came up with this processor sharing scheme to help the SETI cause and am impressed how well it works. I hope somebody actually finds a signal from an extraterrestrial someday .. soon.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
None of us can really imagine how the world will change when we finally have proof of an extraterrestrial intelligence. Maybe the citizens of this Earth would pull together and see just how petty ANY difference is between we human beings. How much more we have in common than we have different. And just how valuable those small differences are between us and how much that diversity adds to our value as a species.
I only see a discovery of extraterrestrial intelligence as having a positive effect on we Earthlings. I hope we find that intelligence, or it finds us soon, before we destroy ourselves through petty bickering.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
