Profile: Sanguinarius

Personal background
I am the webmistress and administrator for Sanguinarius.org for Real Vampires. I like gothic, spooky, paranormal stuff, the X-Files, cemeteries and old graveyards, hearses, vampires, blood, cats, ghosts, Art Bell, sci-fi and horror, etc.

I started participating in the Seti@home project because it was a good way to do something useful with my computer\\'s unused resources, and it\\'s my way of contributing to science, the future, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. I am very poor and cannot make huge donations to science, but this is something that I can do. Even if it\\'s not my computer which is the one that detects the signal(s) which may indicate that there\\'s intelligent life out there, my computer is helping to process the data that is recieved, and that may very well allow the work unit(s) which do contain the signal(s) to get processed quicker by *someone*.

I believe without a doubt that there is, has been, and/or will continue to be Life out there, somewhere in the galaxy, and most definitely somewhere in the Universe! I believe without a doubt that there is, or has been, or will be Intelligent Life forms somewhere out there in the vast expanse of space. Whether we pass each other closely enough to know of each other\\'s existence (and this includes time-wise as well as distance-wise), is the big question. There may only be one other species of intelligent life in our galaxy, and that not even for another 500 million years.

And another thing. We assume, that since we are the most intelligent species on this planet, that the level of our intelligence is the status quo. As intelligent as we seem to be to ourselves, we may actually have only developed so far the most rudimentary level of intelligence. Perhaps the average level of intelligence in this galaxy is (on our scale) an IQ of 550 0r 800? Our most brilliant geniuses would fall short of being imbeciles, having little more than an animal\\'s level of intelligence in comparison.

They may already know about us, and be studying us

(Well, that\\'s nice, whatever else I had here got cut off and is lost forever... All I remember is that it may have been a whole lot of philosophical stuff on aliens or space exploration or something.)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Trying to figure out this new BOINC thing. I probably need to redo my web page on Seti@home because it was created pre-BOINC, and BOINC changed everything. I need to find the time, though...
