I am a retired tax collector living in Florida and spending my time gardening, writing short stories, and playing on my computer.
I have always been interested in science fiction and would like to believe that we are not the only sentient beings in the universe. I cannot imagine an event more likely to place our priorities more appropriately than for us to learn there are other thinking creatures a safe distance away.
Besides, the screen saver looks like I really know what I am doing! |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I am running the SETI program because I believe it is an important project and I favor the idea of such distributed computing projects. It would be just fantastic if SETI actually found and made first contact as it would change everything - forever.
With all the money that governments have spent on missles and bombs and scientific research projects that they later became ashamed of, it would be truly ironic (and just) if the greatest scientific find of our time came from this effort. |
