I am a Non Destructive Testing inspector from South Carolina. I am 32 years old and I hope our contribution of computer time to SETI at home might bring about the possibility finely proving that intelligent life exists.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it would be stupid and selfish of mankind to not believe that we are alone it this universe. We should do all we can to reach beyond the boarders of Earth and restart our journey to the stars.
If we are to ever find the path to intelligent life in space, then it will be with projects like SETI. The dangers are we could find a warlike species, but I would hope to think any culture evolved enough to send signal or return ours would be far past petty squabbles that trouble us today. The benefits to human kind far outweigh the danger we could ever face. I would like to hope that any message we send out to the stars shows we are ready to meet and new species with a hope for peace and a lasting friendship.
I would like to make one suggestion for a change to the SETI website, I would like to be able to hear signals that you think are possible targets for further study.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
