Personal background
JJ Smith 62 year old retired master chief electronics
technician, US Navy of 24 years. I live in Great Mills, Maryland. Was working as an
Electronics Field Engineer IV with BAE SYSTEMS, Inc. within special project branch;
Aegis Engineering Department. Still building ships’ radio
communication systems (now retired). My last duty station was Roosevelt
Roads, Puerto Rico serving as the Communications Maintenance Chief. On many occasions, I would look down on Arecibo's dish from atop the microwave towers on Mt. Jayuya or Cerro de Punto and marvel at the physical size of the dish. I
never dreamed I’d be processing data collected from that
antenna. I’m using three computers running at 1.1 Gig, 903 MHz, and a 733 66 MHz overclocked to 100 MHz; running at 1.103 MHz. Thanks to SETI spy and SETI driver these computers run 24/7 trouble-free.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe ET would be transmitting spread-spectrum; but it just a matter of time and they will land in our back yards. I’m looking forward to processing data from SETI@H 2. I don’t see the Government getting back into the search for SETI unless we find something interesting, then everyone will jump on the bandwagon Besides SETI is good science and a well managed project.
