Profile: Dave Gawlik

Personal background
I am 31 yrs old. I work for myself doing website development. We just had a baby 3 months ago named Hunter and I can tell you that I am the happiest person in the world. My wife Amy is in my picture. That pic is from our honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii. Nothing like Hawaii. I have devoted 2 macs and 2 PCs to this project.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think ETs exist. My theory is that it would be like picking a lottery number only if instead of picking 5 numbers you had to pick 10,000 to win, but there has got to be a winner. We look the way we do because of the size of our planet and its distance from our sun. The size of our sun also is a factor as well as the age of our planet and it's atomic makeup. You would have to find a planet the same size as ours the same distance from the same sized star to find people. Even then they would have to be at roughly the same stage in their evolutionary development as us to look human. Even if all those factors were present they would die in a few minutes if they came here as a result of all the diseases that roam our planet. I doubt they get the same Measles Mumps and Rubella shots from their doctors. With all that said, it sure would be cool to find something out there.
