Personal background
My current work is as a programmer in the Boston area for a little center that does pharmacoepidemiological research (the placards for the business cards haven't come in yet.) The gist of it is that we look for any adverse effects that perscription drugs might have on people, and I get to play with a nice big database. I get to wear sandals to work. I think I'll stay.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The idea that life doesn't exist somewhere other than Earth always struck me as a little odd, given the shear enormity of the universe. I always wanted to be a scientist when I was growing up (right until first year Calculus, that is... damn you, Leibniz!) so being able to be a part of SETI is pretty cool, especially that it's grown so big. I just hope there's intelligent life left here when they start looking...
