| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Does extraterrestrial life exist? I can't see how it couldn't, given the immensity of the universe. When and how will humans discover it? I don't honestly believe we will. The human race will mostly likely be long gone before any of our signals reaches any race that might be listening, or before any extraterrestrial race's signals reach us. Still, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be listening.
I run SETI@home because it's an interesting project to be a part of. I won't be "the one" whose machine detects an extraterrestrial signal, but someone has to process all that data and my machines are just idle, so why not? |
