Personal background
Tell you about myseld eh?? Well if you haven't figured it out yet, I am from Canada. London Ontario to be exact! Currently I am 21 years old, I was born in 1980 (I state the year in case I do not update this page for the next 5 years or so)

I attend the University of Western Ontario, and I am in year 3 of a four year Computer Science degree. I have a part time job at the local video store so a lot of my free time is spent watching movies (especially ones by Kevin Smith).
I also enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy novels (surprise surprise) I am willing to bet that 90% of us here do. One of my favourite authors is Raymond E Feist, I highly reconnemd his work.

In the summertime I enjoy playing and every 4 years watching soccer. As for the winter I spend a lot of time on the slopes nearly killing myself on my snowboard.

If you have read this far then you know me pretty well, so all I have to say is "nice to meet you!"
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

2) Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?

3) Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?

Well these top three topics sound a lot like questions I had on an astronomy test last year. Since I have answered these questions is the past I see no reason not to answer there again, so here goes.

1) YES. In a really long time, if ever. Don't forget we are pretty good at destroying everything around us, includeing ourselvs, we might not be here for the next million years.

2) NO. The cost alone is a good reason to stay away from this one, not to mention the fact that we are already beeming out radio and TV signals, and the Voyager probes are out there too.

3) I want to be the person who makes first contact. Well I can at least try, and its good to know I can help out in a little way. This project is a good idea, nice to see people putting the internet to good use for a change.
