Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
It is essential that we find a way to get our "eggs out of one basket". If we are to survive, If we are to grow as a civilization, we need to have some motivation to move out from the home planet and find other civilizations for trade and interaction. A strong signal that says "Hello!" might just do the trick. Is Seti worthwhile? Was the search for a cure for polio worthwhile? Any search for knowledge is faith based until the questions are answered. Do we have the courage and the vision to follow through?

Thoughts about ETI
We may find that bilaterally symetrical hominids are either ubiquitous or extremely rare. I believe that with all the trillions of stars out there it would be a profound shame if only humans existed as sentient beings. The question should be when will they discover us? The benefits of such contact would be incalculable. The detriments equally so. We've been spewing our signals into space for just over a century. We should be hearing back soon..............
