Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think ET may exist though he may not be as intelligent as we hope.

If we are fortunate enough to discover other life, I think it might be through projects such as SETI@home or SERENDIP.

One of the benefits of discovering other intelligent life may be to prevent those who feel alone in the universe from feeling that way and uniting our country in the knowledge that we are not the only one's out here. I feel that one of the dangers may be that some current religious philosopies here at home may be turned upside down. In that, our standard of morality may be challenged.

I run SETI in order to know if 'They' are out there. As far as broadcasting our presence, I'm not sure if it is such a good idea, we can never be sure who may hear us or what their intentions are. Just as we cannot give into hubris of being the only sentient lifeforms in the universe, it can never be assumed that the belief in the sanctity of life is universal.
