Personal background
I am a 38 year old at Lackland Air Force Base,TX with my active duty wife. I stay at home with the kids while she is a drill instructor for the Air Force (MTI). I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about three years ago and currently am unemployed due to my illness. I was an aircraft machinist/mechanic with the Air Force when I was diagnosed. Now I am turning to my hobby of computers to keep busy. I love reading science fiction/fantasy and have always believed in the idea of other life forms. We are originally from Wisconsin and are die-hard Packer fans. Perhaps E.T will have a cure for all our earthly maladies! ;-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We won't meet with any other life forms until we master space travel between galaxies. We need to advance more to be noticed by others. Then we will be able to interact on a one-to-one basis.

I think transmitting a beacon is a good idea because it puts others on notice that we are here and are willing to communicate. The information to be sent is should be conglomarate of all languages and all welcomes.

I started running SETI after trying the genomes with lock up problems. My friends were running it and I thought it a worthwhile endeavor. I run it constantly and pretty much let it have the run of the system. I would like to see a histories option come back so I can look back at previous results and statistics.
