Profile: Stanislaw "Szydas" Kepinski

Personal background
I'm 32 years old guy, working as anaesthesiologist in some hospitals at Szczecin, Poland. I stay in close relationship with one very interessting girl. My hobbies are mountain biking, astronomy, photography, computer technology. I'm owning two systems, one of them, water cooled, is working 24/7/365, second one due air cooling is switched off every night - the only one room in my flat is sleeping room. Additionaly one computer at my office is working for me from time to time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My adventure with SETI@home began at time, when I did not possess any computer system. I've tried to run client at our medical university servers, but bad configured crontab request takes all its resources. Today this way of computing is called "Denial of Service attack" :-).

So I bought my own system and to date I am upgrading it to reach hightest SETI@home computing efficiency possible.
Why I was joining SETI@home? It's hard to say. I think, that other civilisations exist in universe and it will be big day when someone will detect signal from extraterrestrial inteligence. Even if it does not making any sense. Why? Because if it will be signal from planet distant eg. 1 000 000 light years it mean that the signal is 1 mln years old. And probably this civilisation is no longer existing there. So why I am still looking for "ufox"? Maybe this planet is much closer...?
