Personal background
Greetings from Mount Hood, Oregon. I love it here. I'm a former New Englander, and prior to that, I grew up overseas. I am a polyglot.

My first name is Stephanie. My nerdy hobbies include miniatures, gardening, writing, reading, costuming and Jane Austen, watching lots of sci-fi and dreaming of some day affording to have horses again (I hope). I'm also a published Fantasy author (under other pen-names).

We live in a cabin in a forested town near Mt. Hood. We drive Jeeps, and have two dogs.

The last time I looked at my classic Seti@home account, it was churning away at 1448 results and 30212 (or so) hours of total computing time. I was very sad to let that part of this project go, just because I've had it going for five years, and I've gotten used to it. I'm not so sure about the new spinny-twistie thing... ::sighs:: This new one just isn't the workhorse the other one was, it's flimsy and persnickety and a pain in my rear. But I'll put up with it for the cause. :D
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run Seti@home because 1) It makes use of otherwise idle machine time. 2) Because it's for a great purpose and one I strongly believe in and 3) I'm hoping that we find life, and they'll pull a 'war of the worlds' on us, and cleanse the planet of 3/4 of its population. ::heh:: Kidding. Almost.
