Profile: Eliz. Paxton

Personal background
I am 70-years young, living in America's home for the London Bridge, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on the Colorado River. I work at a weekly newspaper. I love camping in the back country with my dog Bo, who is a retired canine police officer and so smart, he is spooky. I aspire to the motto "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints". There is so much beauty in nature, it is humbling. My major hobby is my love of life!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that it is the height of egotism to believe that we are the only intelligent life in the universe. I believe that we will discover them at the same time they discover us (if they haven't already). IF they have arrived, their technology far surpasses ours, and we need to be respectful of them in order to learn. I just pray that ego does not get in the way (ours that is) As to transmitting a beacon, I am not knowledgeable enough to submit an opinion, but yes, I believe something of that nature should be explored by those who are more informed that this mere mortal. I run SETI@home because it is the most exciting project I have ever encountered. I am honored to be a part of it, even if in a small way. I keep exploring the different possibilities on the SETI site to inform myself as to what is happening. I hope to be a little more knowledgeable, when and if a positive signal should be intercepted, in my opinion, that would be the most exciting event of my life. The possibilities are limitless. Right now, I have much to learn "and miles to go before I sleep"
