The Man Without Qualities is the main character in the german book Der Mann Ohne Eigenshaften. I wouldn't recommend this book to an unexperienced reader. In fact I wouldn't recommend it at all: If you are up to it, you will try it anyway.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I would be surprised if my computer would strike upon an ETI. It is an old 233Mhz pentium (tatataa-sound) and does about 50 hours per datablock. Then again I would be surprised anyway to be off a species that would not be unique in it's way of communication in this universe. It is good sports to look for one, it beats searching for peace on earth.
