Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Been doing this since May 18th, 1999 and its the best use for an idle computer I can think of.

Currently I'm only running SETI@home at home.
I think that in the size of the Universe there are many forms of life, but whether
they use radio is another thing. We've only been using radio for just over 100 years
but there has been life on Earth for many millions of years. I think the assumption that
intelligent life MUST be using radio MIGHT be a bit naive. It could well be that
we discover something other than radio is better suited for communication over
the large distances and time.

I think sending a radio beacon is not required, we have enough high power UHF TV and VHF radio
doing an excellent job already!

Why not run SET@home? What does a CPU do when its not being fed work units? Mine I know would get very bored...
