Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It would be highly unlikely that extraterestial life doesn't exist. The universe is just too big. If we discover extraterrestial life, it would be because of a project like SETI. I think you can compare the danger of finding extraterrestial life with going outside your house. If you go out, and start talking to someone, there is a chance that he of she is not friendly. The reason I run SETI@home isn't because of finding extraterestial life, but its a competition between me and my friends to process the most data units.
