Personal background
I am 62 years of age, retired and live on Lake Oconee in Buckhead, GA, about 70 miles southeast of Atlanta just off interstate 20. I worked for Sears, and IBM during my 35 year career in communications. I have a wonderful wife, Mary Anne, 2 children, Jess and Melanie. Both are married and have given us 2 Grand children and 2 Great Grand children. I love fishing and boating on the lake.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I am convinced that extraterrestrial life exist out there, not only do I feel it exist in the universe, I feel it has to exist in our own Milky Way Galaxy. With the numbers of stars and planets out there, it should be a certainty. The only problem is the incredible distances involved. We must develop the antimater drive and even that will leave us far short of light speed. Even at light speed it will be a taunting task to have any kind of round trip journey to other Galaxies. Finding proof of life out there will be the most significant science find of the human race.
Yes, continue receiving and start sending signals into space, at this point it is the most likely way to answer the question, ARE WE ALONE.
I run seti for many reasons, but the most important is to do my little part in a field I have been interested in all my life and feel that there has to be life out there.
