Personal background
I'm a strange guy from a strange past.
I was born in 1985 in Hubei in China.
At the age of six, my father who won the competition of chinese universities made us move to France (quel beau pays!) and I had to grow there.
Later, after four moves and their respective change of school, my father found a new job in california.
We moved in 2001 and begun a new life here.
I love computers and internet, but I also break it often so my parents forbid me to use the computer when they need it and tell me to read novels instead, so I'm used to read a lot.
I have serval friends in France and even in Germany and I spend a lot of my week end time to chat with them.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Searching for intelligence in the universe is a formidable thing.
But, we can't find and decrypt all the signals of intelligent form of life if we don't know them, and this even if we manage to get their signal, so the work we are doing is very superficial and based on our luck.
But it is better than nothing and if a lot of people use this software, the gain in calcul power isn't negligeable.
To make more people use your soft, you should organize a community with teams, points and competition: like a sort of game!
Humans have this kind of game and challenge spirit that would make them contribute in the name of their respective team.
Think also that most of the most powerfull pcs are owned by children that are particulary subject to this kind of thing.
