I have a strong interest in all sciences and some day would like to build the first bipedal human facsimile robot that can also pass the Turing test.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am sure extraterrestrial life exists. I am unsure that it would be humanoid, but it would be exciting to discover it in all its forms. Once discovered, the next problem becomes contact. Due to the vast distances (and therefore time) involved making contact it would not be anytime soon. I think we have more to fear from ourselves than any alien that might be millions of light years away.

Our species is probably far more dangerous to any extraterrestrial life than vice versa. If we could communicate with other intelligent life, we might learn from their experiences and perhaps work cooperatively with them. Should we send out a beacon? Hmmm, that is a tough question. If there were a more powerful species out there it may not be such a good idea to advertise. Then again, we have probably been transmitting some signals for the last 100 years anyway.

If we were to send a signal, I would first construct a series of simple mathematical sequences to separate the signal from noise, then expand to a symbolic alphabet, then a simple language, then a description of what, and who we are, a greeting, and then finally a description of how to contact us.

I want to contribute what I can to SETI due to its importance to our species. I congratulate SETI@Home for a novel approach to their lack of funding, and I’m sure that all involved are happy to help.
