Personal background
I am a Project Manager in the Transportation industry specializing in technology/eBusiness related endeavours. I have always been interested in all things scientific even though my background is more in the Arts. Despite being well into my 4th decade, a star-filled sky remains to me one of the most inspirational roses to stop and sniff.

I am also an avid online gamer, which is how I came to learn about this truly worthwhile endeavour. FPS games like Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament 2003, Counter Strikeare my favourites, but I also dabble in an MMORPG once in a while.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) Emphatic YES! Either when they want us to or when everybody is donating their unused bandwidth to SETI@home :) Hmmmm... I think that both the potential benefits and dangers are limitless and ultimate. Given the sheer vastness of the universe anything is possible, so we are just as likely to find a benign race as we are chaotic war mongers. In either case, I feel we have no choice, but to continue our search.

2) I believe we should be responsible neighbours and reach out to them as much as we are keeping our ears open wide. A simple mathematical equation would be of benefit. This would at least allow for contact without providing too much detailed information to potential nasties :D

3) I already alluded to this in the profile section, but simply put... the endeavour is entirely worthwhile. This program allows me to contribute in a meaningful way to one of the most important human goals of all time. Since I am so new to the program I will refrain from any suggestions. Perhaps as I get more involved in the community a few comments will be forthcoming.
