Personal background
Hello profile readers :)

I live near Cheadar (in the UK). My interest include some of the following...

Electronics, I like to make and repair stuff (including computers). This is something I also do at work).

Computers, I build, modify and do some programming. I don't often play games, but use computers for many tasks. I enjoy using the internet, and have done for several years.

I used to work for a company that has developed a new tchnology for the disposal of all sorts of waste. This is done it a much more envionmentaly friendly way than incineration and a number of usefull byproducs can be recovered (including electrical power, heat, carbon (non oil based carbon black)). The company also supports the idea of removing recycalable materials before processing. See www.compactpower.co.uk for more details.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am unsure about the existance if ET. I do keep an open mind though.

I feel that if ETs do exist then it is better to know of the existance, than to remain ignorant. I do not think that a beacon should be set up at this time, but that it should be considered for the future.

I run seti@home in the hope that if ETs exist, that we know about it. I am not sure what if anything should be done if ET signals are detected. I would hope that more would be found out before we attempt to contact a potentialy hostile other life form (I do accept that they may be friendly, but it is not to be taken for granted that they will be).
