Personal background
I'm from Canada. Originally born in the southern USA and have been interested in what is out there since I watched Carpenter and Glenn go overhead as a child. I hoped to one day go into space myself now I look forward to one day see my children there. I currently work in the aviation field as an Avionics Manager so I get to keep up eith all the new equipment coming out. I am an avid outdoors person and at night spend a fair bit of time looking at the night sky and marveling at the number of planets. One of my favorite movies is Contact. The line " If we are all the intelligent life in the universe then what an awful waste of space" kind of sums up my how I feel about what SETI is doing. Good luck to us all.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes. I have a feeling that they will contact us when they feel we are ready. The benifits will be astronomical. The dangers, who knows. Just don't tell them we taste good.
2. Aren't we already transmitting a beacon. Our TV and Radio signals, our space exploration units. We couldn't do much better then Voyager.
3. I run it because I want to help. Man's quest is to explore. We are not destined to be on this planet for the rest of our existance.
