I am in favor of stepping up (ok starting space exploration as a priority - and much more useful than, say, War.
Yes. How should we expect 'others' to transmit if we don't. Its existance seems far more important than the content.
It seemed the best way to get things done. If some thing necessary (SETI) can benefit from 'idle tiem' what ever would eb the reason not to?
