Hi,

With SETI@home winding down (to be replaced by BOINC), we're now calling it a day as we've reached a milestone (750 units) and we are unlikely to reach the next one before the change-over.

So, GOOD LUCK to all otehr SETI@home users - see you at BOINC !!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am sure other lifeforms exist. Some are clearly going to be lower down the evolutionary scale than humankind. And possibly some might be more intelligent and be able to communicate across the galaxy.

Of course it may be that humans are the most advanced lifeform in the Universe - that we have evolved faster than any other lifeform anywhere else.

So, we may have a long wait until other lifeforms have the power to communicate with us. On the otherhand - how long has it taken us to go from living in caves to being able to use technological devices like computers and radio transmitters - no more than 50,000 years I bet. But that's nothing compared to a Universe that is over 10 billion years old.

There's most likely to be more intelligent lifeforms that don't know we exist yet. Or maybe they do, but are keeping away - we're just a bit too "aggressive" and "unfriendly" to our own kind, never mind an ET...!

So, we'll have to wait and see if SETI@home allows us the chance to find other intelligent lifeforms.
