Personal background
I was born and raised in a rural area of the United States Midwest near
Brownsville, MN. Living in an area no light pollution has given me
a great appreciation for the night sky. Consequently, I've always been
interested in learning more about it.

I work as a Internet Developer and System Administrator. As is common in
my field of work, I am also obsessed with playing around with
computers/software of all types. Because of it's availabilty, intel-type
x86 hardware is my machine of choice, and because of its ability to not
suck, Linux is my operating system of choice.

SetiAtHome give me the ability to merge these two intrests of mine. Plus,
by keeping my computers from idling, it helps relieve some of my guilt of
spending so much money on computer hardware.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN EXTRATERRESTRAIL LIFE!

That is not say that I believe there is no extraterrestrial life, but instead
that I don't believe there is an answer to the question yet.

SETI may or may not ever produce any credible discoveries. If life is
discovered on some remote world, I'd feel proud for having participated. If
by some freak chance, a new type of celestial body is discovered by SETI,
I'd feel proud for having participated. If it turns out that all these
years everyone's been cruching bogus data because somebody forgot to turn
the telescope power switch on in 1998, I'd feel proud for having participated
because at least I tried to do something.
