Personal background
Hello
I´m 29 years old and live in Lisbon, Portugal. I work as a software developer and I love what I do. Many years ago (at least from my perspective) I read "Cosmos" from Carl Sagan and since than I dream of becoming a Astro-Phisic, unfourtunely in my country there is no jobs open in that area :-(, so I spend my last 15 years reading and dreaming about the stars (Hey... It´s half my life!!) and study software engeneerig.
A few time ago I heard about SETI@home and I wonder:
"And if I start trying to find some ET here, at home. If I can´t go to them maybe they come to me!!!"
When I instaled Internet in my home it was the second thing I do. And now here I am... My wife dosen´t like very much this idea but I don´t care. Finaly I´m making something active in the science comunity. It´s not a great contribute but its the best I can
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
When I see a picture of our universe and look at the greatness of it I only can think that we cannot be alone, so, I have a strong believe that extraterrestrial live exists. I think that since we see those serie B Science Fiction movies that the society has afraid of the Contact, but I believe the benefits are many more than the dangers but unfourtunely the ETs are very hard to find. The only ET I find until now was my 5th Year music teacher...
But despise of that I think that sending a beacon to outer space is a unuseful efort. What are the possibilities of somebody out there capture it???
The SETI@home was a great idea. Please never stop it...
