I am a 45 year old male from Ishøj, Denmark. I have a small network (with VOIP, wifi, print server, nas and a few other gizmos) with 10 PCs.
The PCs are connected to a hub and they have broadband access through a cable modem. Some of my PCs run 24 hours a day and they all have Boinc screensavers installed on them. I used to have all the PCs running 24/7/365 but when I received my last electricity bill I almost went into a coma. My electric company only read my meter once a year and I pay a amount every three months based on last years usage and I used quite a lot more electricity that last year probably due to larger PSUs so I received a gigantic electricity bill
and they raised the amount I have to pay 3 months quite a bit so I can't afford to have all my PCs running 24/7/365 so I must cut back on electricity so I will not be running all my pcs 24/7/365 anylonger.
I am not an engineer or a scientist. However my brother is a
engineer and he was running Seti on his PC a and I joined the Seti search too.
The PCs I never turn off were just standing there doing nothing so why not give them something to do instead of just being idle. |
