Personal background

I am one of those politiacally liberal types. I am not a big fan of the WTO or WorldBank. I studied development at the OU and hope one day to work in the development industry. My greatest ambitions are to work for myself and to do things in my life that make a difference.

Things I love are mountains, mountain biking, music and most of all my wife.
I run seti@home on 'coldlazarus' which is a silent watercooled workstation running XP.

I loath M$ but am forced into using them because the software I use isnt ported to linux :-(

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I run seti because finding other intelligent life would be the 'biggest' thing to happen to the human race ever with the exception of gaining the ablility to travel to other planets.

I suspect after reading about 'twisted light' in a New Scientist recently that the presence of extra terrestrial intelligence will be proved by some means other than radio waves, some elegant and simple but clever solution to communicating over long distances.

If e.t.'s have the capacity to travel to this planet, I think that the likelihood is that they are sufficiently advanced to remain undetected. Perhaps that bird you were feeding in the town centre was a nano-tech robot bird that is on a reconnosance mission....
