Personal background
Hi, i am Tomi Meglenov from Slovenia in Europe. I was born in 1975. I do computer stuff for living, everything from web application to audio and video production (interactive multimedia). I like Star trek a lot, but not in a fanatic way, but i admire the production. Also i am drawn to science fiction because i like the idea that in a human mind there can not be any bounderies. I belive that answer to the ultimate question of existance is that "zero is infinity and we are somewere inbetween" :)))
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think there is life, and it is not very likely to be similar to life that we comprehand. It can easily be almost anything we don't expect and therefore not looking for that kind of informations on right places. Almost anything that we discover is a benifit if used right and dangerous if used wrong or nothing if not used at all and that's the point, we are not using ewerything, it is not possible, because we are not infinite.
2. If humans send beacon it should be simple just to indicate that isn't natural accourance. Information is irrelevant, because there is no way a distinct civilisation will share similar technology and even more unlikely that they use the same logic of thinking and algorytems for decoding information.
3. I now that there is something else in this wast universe with us because there are trees, birds, fishes, the moon, the sun, galaxy. I think everything counts. So when i found this page i decided to join and give some computer cycles for science even for a joke, even if the hole thing is just a waste of time :)))
