Profile: Bru

Personal background
I'm 42 and live in Clayton, Ohio a nice suburban/rural area near Dayton. I've worked for the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area for the past 8 years. Currently I'm the Information Systems Operations Manager. Prior to coming to the United Way I was a social worker, working with alcoholics, drug abusers and people with HIV.
For hobbies I like to cook and love good coffee and great conversation. I enjoy roasting my own cofee beans, trying new blends and new roasts regularly.
I'm a member of Toastmasters International and volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've joined the SETI project twice. The first time was right after they began distribution of the screensaver. My computer was very old and underpowered and couldn't handle SETI. I rejoined this year after getting a new computer.
When I was a boy I made a crystal radio set and listened in for others talking it, as a teen I listened in on short-wave, now I listen in on SETI. I'm confident that we'll be able to tune through the static soon and hear the voices from the distance.
The last 100 years have seen remarkable progress on earth as we've broken the communications barriers around the globe. When we break the communication barriers around the galaxy the progress is sure to be swift and even more remarkable.
